Minimally Invasive Joint Care · Durva Hospital

Arthroscopy

Smaller incisions. Precise treatment. A modern approach to joint care.

Joint injuries can affect much more than movement. Persistent knee pain, shoulder instability, ligament tears or cartilage damage can interfere with work, sports, exercise and everyday activities.

At Durva Hospital, arthroscopy is used, when clinically appropriate, as a minimally invasive approach to diagnose and treat selected joint conditions. Under the care of Dr. Hitesh Mangal, treatment is planned around the specific injury, joint condition, activity level and recovery goals of each patient.

What is
Arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy, commonly known as keyhole surgery, is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to examine and treat problems inside a joint.

During the procedure, a small camera called an arthroscope is introduced into the joint through a small incision. It allows the surgeon to view internal structures such as ligaments, cartilage, meniscus and tendons in detail. Specialised instruments can then be used through additional small incisions when treatment is required.

Compared with traditional open approaches, arthroscopy can limit disruption to surrounding tissues in appropriately selected cases. The suitability and expected benefits depend on the patient’s individual condition.

Knee, Shoulder & Sports Injuries

Targeted care for the joint that keeps you moving.

Treatment is selected after evaluating the cause of symptoms, extent of damage and each patient’s functional requirements.

01 · Knee Arthroscopy

Precise care for ligament, meniscus and cartilage injuries

The knee is particularly vulnerable to injuries during sports, exercise, accidents and sudden twisting movements.

  • ACL & PCL injuries
  • Meniscus tears
  • Cartilage injuries
  • Selected ligament problems
  • Knee locking or instability

Depending on the diagnosis, procedures can include ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair or treatment of damaged structures, while preserving healthy joint tissue wherever possible.

02 · Shoulder Arthroscopy

Restoring stability, movement and confidence

Shoulder problems can cause pain, weakness, restricted movement or repeated episodes of instability.

  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Recurrent shoulder dislocation
  • Shoulder instability
  • Labral injuries
  • Selected tendon and soft-tissue problems

Treatment is determined after evaluating the cause of symptoms, extent of damage and the patient’s functional requirements.

Sports Injuries & Arthroscopy

Helping active patients get back to movement.

Sports injuries are not limited to professional athletes. They can affect runners, gym-goers, recreational players and anyone with an active lifestyle.

ACL tears, meniscus injuries, shoulder instability and other joint injuries can significantly affect performance and everyday movement.

At Durva Hospital, the focus begins with an accurate diagnosis. Depending on the injury, treatment may involve rehabilitation and other non-surgical approaches, or arthroscopic surgery when clinically indicated.

When to seek advice

When Should You Consult an Orthopaedic Specialist?

  • Persistent knee or shoulder pain
  • Swelling after activity or injury
  • Knee locking or catching
  • Joint instability or giving way
  • Difficulty bending or straightening a joint
  • Repeated shoulder dislocation
  • Reduced shoulder movement
  • Sports-related ligament or cartilage injury
  • Pain continuing despite appropriate initial treatment

These symptoms can have several causes, so clinical assessment is important before deciding on treatment.

Diagnosis & Treatment Planning

The right procedure begins with the right diagnosis.

Before recommending arthroscopy, Dr. Hitesh Mangal may evaluate the patient’s symptoms, medical history, joint movement, stability and functional limitations.

X-rays, MRI or other investigations may be advised where clinically appropriate.

Based on these findings, the patient can be guided through the available treatment options, potential role of surgery and expected rehabilitation process.

Surgery is one step. Recovery completes the journey.

Rehabilitation is an important part of recovery following many arthroscopic procedures.

Depending on the injury and procedure performed, rehabilitation may focus on gradually restoring joint movement, muscle strength, balance, stability and functional activity.

For sports-related injuries, return to sport should be guided by recovery progress and clinical assessment rather than a fixed timeline alone.

Recovery varies between patients and procedures, so an individual rehabilitation plan is important.
